Foster Van Lines was founded in Richmond, California by Howard Foster in 1941. Like many other California moving companies of the time, our business at that point was a very humble cottage-industry, which consisted mainly of transporting furniture and luggage from the Santa Fe and Union Pacific train stations in Richmond to accommodate the burgeoning population.
Our services quickly became popular, and we became the top choice amongst Richmond moving companies. Following the end of World War II, Howard devoted his time to found a premier household goods moving company. As our services grew, so did our service area - we've grown over time from a very local business to a firm which services all 48 contiguous states with major van lines affiliations.
