Cats in the City was started by animal lovers Shawn and Daniel Lioy-Ryan, a social worker and neuroscientist. Both specialized in animal behavior. Shawn trained with domestic cats for animal assisted therapy while working with folks facing end-of-life. Daniel studied animal behavior while earning his PhD from OHSU.

Most cats are attended to by a pair of tandem cat groomers: One grooming assistant to help your cat feel comfortable, and a master groomer to focus on grooming needs.
