The Happy Sumo was created in 1999 from our desire to give Utahns a sushi experience they had never experienced before. As hard as it is to fathom now, back in the late 90's Asian fusion was a new concept and elaborate specialty rolls were hard to find. The founders of Happy Sumo saw an opportunity to bring some of the most innovative, mouth watering, and delicious sushi roll combinations to Utah's soon to be bourgeoning restaurant scene.

Easy freeway access using the 6200 South exits off I-215. Our Shops at Old Mill Village location boasts a beautiful trellis patio at the foothills of the stunning Wasatch Mountains.

One of my favorite sushi places. I don’t live in the area but visit a lot and ALWAYS go to happy sumo. They have a big variety of rolls, which is what I usually get, but also other great entrees and appetizers. Service has always been good as well.

I love This restaurant!!! The food is always so good and great service too! They have some of the best sushi I’ve ever tasted and all the entrees I’ve tried are delicious! Whenever we are in town we always make sure and eat here.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants. I’ve spent significant time in or lived in Washington DC, Austin Texas, Salt Lake City and Provo Utah, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Los Angeles. Happy Sumo has been consistently number one or two of all the places I’ve tried over the last 10 years. Their sushi is always fresh and they have unique delicious combinations of flavors. Service has always been outstanding and the restaurant is pristine. I’m kind of a germaphobe so really love finding restaurants that focus on cleanliness.

We LOVE Happy Sumo! This is our go-to sushi spot for any occasion. The restaurant is cozy, staff is friendly and knowledgable AND the food is always delicious. I highly recommend the calamari and rock shrimp roll, they have the best tempura batter (light and crispy).

Super excited to visit this place based on reviews and it was a total flop !!!!
We started we appetizers
Tempura calamari: had no flavor , it was quite greasy ⭐️ ⭐️
Edamame was meh in that sense that it was way too salty my HBP went up just looking at it ⭐️⭐️
We proceeded to order our entree’s
Siam street noodles with shrimp
Disappointed with this dish
Had more red peppers then noodles , noodles were a bit chewy and there was really no flavor , they were bland …. All in all I would not here again… itto has much better flavors and nicer more attentive servers !!! With

Had a great experience at Happy Sumo. Their bento boxes are a perfect fit for younger kids. The Marz role with spicy crab and lime is amazing. Also loved the sunset roll. The tempura veggies, holy cow, I could eat these for the entire meal. Just amazing. Hit up happy sumo the next time you’re in the area.

Literally just went today and everything was awesome including the service. potstickers were the best thing i’ve ever tasted and the servers were very nice and patient with us. will definitely be going there again soon

Fantastic! The itamae was great, improved me a couple of delicious rolls and that were so killer! The staff was very friendly and nice! I will definitely be back!

So, one of my friends loves this place, and told me we had to visit...
I enjoyed my time here, but didn't feel that desire to return, and it was just okay.
I give it a three out of five
My friend tells him this still is her favorite place ever, and is a perfect 5 out of 5... So I'll meet you in the middle, and rate a four. Haha.
The speed of surface was a little slow, but not too bad
The two sushi rolls I ordered, seemed to be fresh, and I didn't get sick when I got home. Haha!
I may or may not return... but nothing against this place, just not my favorite
