Reclaimed Wood or Lumber has a past and has been used for buildings and structures from the 18th to the early 20th century. The wood is recycled and reused to meet today's ever-growing need for sustainable and eco-friendly homes and businesses. Today's century-old reclaimed wood emerges from a time when wood was in abundance, both in North America and Europe, and was used as a principal building material.

Kiln drying is a standard practice in wood production mills and serves to efficiently bring green lumber moisture levels down to "workable" range-moisture content levels to prevent the array of problems that can be caused by excess moisture levels in wood. Depending on the origin, species, and type of wood, the moisture content before kiln drying can be 15% or greater when we acquire it.

In everything we do at BARN XO, we make sure to put focus on environmentally friendly manufacturing practices. This includes our finishes and stains. Traditional stains typically contain harsh chemicals and have strong odors which can cause headaches and nausea. The result, a natural product filled with harmful chemicals and a process which often leaves a home uninhabitable for days.
