R Value Concrete Structures
My name is Jake Vierzen, I founded R-Value Homes in 2004, after 10 years at a Michigan based commercial concrete contractor, starting as a laborer, and quickly moving into the position of a poured wall foreman. But the seeds of Insulating Concrete Forms (ICF) were planted much earlier.

I was raised in a large family on a West Michigan dairy farm; where long hours were the norm, complaining was taboo, and both conservation of energy and stewardship of resources was a way of life.I came to respect durability and simplicity, both in our equipment, and in our buildings. Let me put it another way: I began working at 6, and broke a lot of stuff.
Services
Most people spend more time in their home than any other single place. Improving your quality of life starts with a healthy home-a home built to address your unique needs now and as you age: asthma, diabetes, bad knees or back, and the list can go on. Our building process and choice materials deliver a home built to relieve the pressure of increasing energy costs far beyond anything you have experienced.
Our Process
Report
Our TBL2 process has been developed with your needs in mind. We approach the pre-construction process in several stages, so that you don't feel pressured to commit to building the entire home before you have some idea of the costs involved. Let's face it: not everybody wants a home built for comfort, health, efficiency, and durability.

I wish I could give you the answers, but in reality, my clients need to speak for themselves. Lynette's previous home burned extremely quickly, so she appreciated the 3-4 hour fire rating of the ICF walls. It's wonderful to live in our home (even though much work remains for me to complete on it). Our energy bills are lower on this house than on our old home which is 1/2 the size and sits vacant Thank you.

Report
ICF is an acronym for Insulating Concrete Form(s). Although various configurations exist, a common ICF block is a 48" long, 16" high concrete form with two 2 5/8" thick Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam walls as the forms. These walls are separated to create a hollow cavity, which is filled with reinforced concrete.
Comfort
Report
A critical piece of the comfort puzzle is noise and vibration. Automotive engineers dedicate their lives to reducing these traits in their vehicles, because although nobody shops for these traits, they are what unconsciously sell the car. The first principle of comfort is the right temperature.

While those of us who are married certainly know that our spouse's ideal temperature can be different from our own; science has taught us a lot about thermal comfort in the home. While many people are very willing to spend thousands more on a vehicle that delivers greater comfort, these same people rarely consider how the same concept could apply to their home.
