Our newly renovated wine shed has a variety of local wine available for tasting and purchase. You will also find antiques and unique gift options. Be sure to stop in and see Joe before you leave town! Just a short walk from the restaurant you will find one of the best overlooks of the Mississippi River valley. Sunny or cloudy, summer or winter, the overlook is a sight not to be missed.

Opened in 1852 by federal permit issued from President Millard Fillmore, Breitbach's is Iowa's oldest food and drinking establishment. Jacob Breitbach, great-great grandfather of the present owner, purchased the business in 1862, and through six generations, the Breitbach family has been in ownership ever since.

Be sure to take some time to enjoy the view while you are in Balltown. A short walk from the restaurant you will find a beautiful overlook of rural farmland and the Mississippi River Valley. If you are up for a one mile walk, in each direction, you will find a small picnic table and another, even better view.

This bed and breakfast is located in an old button factory on the Mississippi River in Guttenberg, Iowa.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Northeast Iowa by bike. Just outside Dubuque is the small town of Sageville. It is here that a bike lane begins traveling along the Great River Road. The path runs from Sageville through the small towns of Sherrill and Balltown, to the Dubuque County Line. In total the bike path runs approximately 13 miles.

Our buffet is made fresh daily using high quality ingredients. Our soups and salads items are completely homemade by Cindy Breitbach and her team. Potatoes for the potato salad are boiled and hand peeled, the carrots you find in our carrot salad are made from whole, raw carrots we peel and cut ourselves.
