The year was 1945. Times were tough and frustrating for everyone. But three men, Guy, Cliff and Johnny Martin, a dad and his two sons, had good heads, big hearts and strong backs. This was the nucleus that was the beginning of Martin Furniture and Design. Located in beautiful downtown Gainesville, Georgia, Martin Furniture and Design had its birth in the same historic building in which it resides today.
In fact, it was one of the few buildings that survived the F-4 tornado of 1936, the 5th deadliest one in U.S. history to date. Our store has seen its share of changes over the years-a second floor, a new and improved office space, faux painting, the loss of two of its original founders, and a recent name change from Martin Furniture Company-but Martin Furniture and Design's business philosophy hasn't been altered one bit.
