In January of 1996, Smith Sensei began his formal study with Sensei Shane Topp, who is the current head instructor of Eugue-Ryu Karate-Jutsu. Eugue Ryu KarateJutsu is a system of Karate and Jujutsu founded by Kensenzu Yamaegue. Smith Sensei takes every opportunity to train in other arts and learn from other instructors, all the while comparing them to Topp Sensei and the Eugue-Ryu system.
History
Report
Eugue-Ryu was originally founded by Kensenzu Yamaeugue as a Japanese Jujutsu system that specialized in Ate-waza (striking technique). The system was moved from Japan to a Japanese occupied area of Korea where it was undoubtedly influenced by Korean Martial Arts.

Testing
Report
Advancing through the rank system is an important part of how we gauge progress in our training. My hope is to answer some of these questions and to relieve some anxieties. After approximately three to four months of training a new student may begin to expect to see his or her name appear on the list posted on the bulletin board as well as on the website under "testing."
Topp Sensei
Report
He began his formal study with Sensei Michael Young. Sensei Young was the head instructor of Eugue-Ryu Karate-Jutsu, a system of karate and jujitsu founded by Kensenzu Yamaegue. In 1998, Topp was chosen as one of four head instructors given charge of the Eugue-Ryu system. Topp Sensei expanded his training to include many other arts and instructors including Dr. Jake D. Allen Soke, founder of American Jukido Ryu.
