About
Report
Our office was opened in the 1960's by Dr. Ronald Volmer. In those days, Dr. Volmer's patients would come in for their exams straight from the beach. They would complain that they couldn't see the waves while they surfed or couldn't focus on a volleyball coming across the court. As was the custom at the time, Dr. Volmer would provide them with vision correction and his patients would leave a little bit of sand in the exam room!

Insurance
Report
There are two types of insurance we accept in our office, vision insurance and medical insurance.
They are different in many respects, the main difference being that vision insurance covers only exams and products (glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses) related to correcting your visual system in order to get you to see clearly, while medical insurance will cover exams related to problems related to the health of the eye, such as cataracts, red eyes, glaucoma, as well as many other acute and chronic problems.

Common Ocular Problems
Report
Hyperopia, also known as farsightedness, is a common type of refractive error where distant objects may be seen more clearly than objects that are near. However, people experience hyperopia differently. Some people may not notice any problems with their vision, especially when they are young. For people with significant hyperopia, vision can be blurry for objects at any distance, near or far.
