The Raven was founded in 2000 and is located in Silverthorne, Colorado at an elevation of 9,035 feet. The course is surrounded by towering pines and quaking aspens. The snow capped mountains of over 13,000 feet frame the course with crystal clear creeks and and sparkling lakes rich with trout. The course was designed by Tom Lehman and Hurzdan and Fry.

A gentle opening hole. A long tee shot down the left side of the fairway on this dogleg left gives it the best chance of rolling to the bottom of the hill. A well-contoured green, framed by a lake and the first of many Alister MacKenzie-style bunkers, set the tone for the rest of the golf course. A fairly straightaway par 5, but a lengthy one.
