Acupuncture is a safe, effective, and relatively painless way to treat and prevent many issues that people deal with on a daily basis. It originated over 2,000 years ago in China, and is increasingly gaining popularity in the U.S. During a session a licensed acupuncturist uses sterile, one-time use needles to direct and rebalance the flow of Qi or energy in a patient's body.
Theses needles resemble the width of a hair (about 20 of them can fit into a hypodermic needle which you get a shot with). Once the needles are in place, the patient lies quietly and relaxes while the needles "do their work." Although some people do see results after one treatment, typically a range of 4-12 treatments are needed depending on patient response and the severity of the symptoms presented.
