I heard about Little Acre Flowers through Foxtrot and was so glad that I ordered them for my anniversary. I ordered the Daily Hand-Tied Bouquet and it came with a massive bouquet of assorted flowers that were all extremely fresh, smelled amazing, and lasted over a week in a vase.

Little Acre Flowers delivered its first 100% local flower arrangements during a snowstorm in 2014. It began as a pop-up offering for Valentine's Day, staffed entirely by one woman (plus her kind friends who pitched in to help make deliveries during the blizzard!)
When she quickly sold out of Valentines, founder Tobie Whitman realized the strong interest in an alternative to traditional floral arrangements; DC's only 100% locally-sourcing florist, Little Acre Flowers, was born.The concept of creating arrangements using only locally grown blooms grew from Whitman's frustration with traditional florists whose flowers seemed neither fresh nor seasonal.

By only carrying what's in season we reduce our overall waste. Other florists stock many kinds of flowers that often go unused if there is no order for them. At Little Acre because we have a single daily special, there are few wasted flowers. Some estimate that of cut flowers end up in the trash because florists stock so many kinds that people don't order.
