North Idaho Learning Center
Selkirk School has been dedicated to fostering the love of learning in Preschool and Kindergarten children in the Sandpoint community since 1978. Daily opportunities for all-season outside exploration on our expansive 4 acre wooded property. Our goal is for your child to have a positive, productive, and fun school experience.

Each child's strengths and needs are recognized and respected as we facilitate growth throughout the year. We believe a confident, curious, communicative child who links what they know to new experiences will become a joyful life long learner.

Curriculum
Report
The Selkirk School's Threeschool through Kindergarten curriculum nurtures the growth of a child's mind, body and spirit. The school does not follow one specific philosophy or curriculum.

Instead, it is an integrated approach that is influenced by several philosophies and teaching practices including: early childhood current brain research, developmentally appropriate practices, connection to the natural world, Selkirk School's long history, independent school curriculum and State and National benchmarks.
Aftercare
Report
Selkirk School offers an optional Aftercare program for families, which extends the care offered onsite beyond the end of the school day. Aftercare is billed hourly from 1:00pm - 5:10pm, and is available Monday through Friday for current Selkirk School students and alumni through the completion of their First Grade year.
Summer Camp
Report
Selkirk School is pleased to offer a summer day camp program for its families. Weekly themes rotate throughout the summer which guide the crafts, stories, and outside activities. Camp days are filled with lots of outdoor exploration, from bug identification to pirate map reading, but also plenty of free play time to enjoy the hammock, dig site, tipi, and climbing tree.
How You Can Help
Report
Selkirk School is a small, independent school whose success depends upon the participation and contributions of valued community members. We invite you to volunteer time in the classrooms, donate services, and participate in work parties and fundraising. Every effort, no matter how small, is appreciated, and contributes toward creating a nurturing and supportive environment for our children.
