At Genan we aim for sustainability and to help create a greener planet. At the end of the 1970s, the idea of establishing a plant for the recycling scrap tires was born. The automotive industry was booming and waste tires were a problem society was starting to address. In the 1980s, new concepts were developed and, in 1990, the first recycling plant for scrap tires became a reality in Viborg, Denmark.

We have six recycling plants: one in Denmark, which is where the Genan headquarters are located, three in Germany, one in Portugal and one in the USA. The Genan plant in the USA is the largest tire recycling plant in the world.
