Your Child's Magical Learning Adventure Starts Here
We are a Reggio Emilia and Waldorf-inspired Playgarden caring for children from 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our environments are warm, creative, and deeply relational, where childhood is honored and learning grows naturally through play, connection, and care. Since our founding, weve created a space where skilled teachers nurture each childs unique journey. Our team has designed Playgardens that foster belonging, agency, and wonder through child-led exploration in art, nature, and joyful community. With three nurturing locations across Portland, we meet families where they are and provide easy access to our joyful environments. We blend early childhood care with intentional teaching practices that honor emotional intelligence, hands-on discovery, and community-based learning.

Our curriculum is emergent and evolving, following childrens natural curiosity and creating deeply meaningful learning experiences. We believe in transparency and partnership with families, maintaining clear communication through the Procare App and welcoming you into our process. Our commitment to safety includes thoughtful cleanliness procedures and secure building access while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. We strive to make tuition accessible through multiple funding options, ensuring all children have a magical place to grow regardless of financial circumstances.

Services
Infant care
Our Magnolia Room provides a calm, nurturing environment for infants aged 6 weeks to 1 year. We follow each baby's individual needs with warm, rhythm-led days, plenty of floor time for development, and constant teacher presence for building trust and security. Our approach supports early milestones like recognizing object permanence while maintaining a safe, loving space for exploration.
Toddler programs
The Oak Room serves toddlers aged 1-2 years with an energetic environment that encourages self-expression and exploration. We balance open play, meals, and naptime while supporting early independence and developmental milestones. Our teachers guide children through new experiences while celebrating their growing skills and individuality in a space designed for active learning and joyful discovery.
Preschool education
Our Willow Room offers a preschool program for children aged 3-5 years focusing on creativity, mentorship, and kindergarten readiness. Children engage in projects that develop literacy and emotional skills while often teaching peers. Daily rhythms balance structure with spontaneity, supporting independent thinking and imaginative play through exploration, creation, and friend time in a curriculum that follows the child's interests.
Nature exploration
Nature time is an essential part of our daily routine with outdoor play areas at each location. Children explore natural environments through walks, seasonal celebrations, and hands-on discovery. Our approach builds environmental awareness while supporting physical development and sensory experiences. We believe connecting with nature fosters curiosity, wonder, and foundational learning through direct experience with the changing world.
Parent resources
We provide comprehensive support for families including a free Parent Pack with program details and our educational philosophy. Our directors offer guidance during enrollment, and we maintain regular communication through the Procare App. We host community-building events and workshops to help families understand our approach while providing ongoing resources to support child development and family well-being.
