Great Oak School opened its doors in the Fall 2009 in a small house on Spring Cypress Road in Spring. We started with 3 children in the Kindergarten. In Fall 2010 we opened in our current location in Tomball with one Kindergarten class and have grown steadily and healthily ever since. In 2021-2022 we will have one mixed-age Kindergarten with up to 20 students, a preschool program with up to 15 students, and grades one through eight.
Each month more students find their way to our school to embark on their own journey into this extraordinary education. Great Oak School is part of a worldwide movement of more than 1,000 institutions whose approach to education is inspired by the ground-breaking work of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925).

Developed in 1919 by scientist and philosopher Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf Education is based on a model of child development that addresses the needs of the growing child and maturing adolescent. Waldorf teachers see education as an art form, the goal of which is to balance and engage all of their students' developing faculties.
