Chuck graduated from college in 1976 and then finished a Master's degree in 1978. Upon graduation he worked in higher education for fifteen years, while still continuing to build homes during his summers off. In 1988 he obtained a Class A Contractor's License from the State of Virginia and founded Timberlake Construction Co., LLC.
Along with traditionally constructed houses, he has also built four timber-frame homes in the Lynchburg area. In 1996 he worked with well-known builder/inspector, James Falls, for almost a year in order to learn the inspection business. At the same time, he also remained active in the construction business.
