Regular dental exams help protect your oral health and general well-being. A dental exam gives your dentist a chance to provide tips on caring for your teeth and to detect any problems early - when they're most treatable. During a dental exam, the dentist will check for cavities and gum disease. The dentist will also evaluate your risk of developing other oral health problems, as well as check your face, neck and mouth for abnormalities.

Wisdom teeth extractions vary in complexity and are typically performed by an oral surgeon. A third-molar extraction - commonly known as a "wisdom tooth" - is a surgical procedure performed by an oral surgeon or periodontist that removes one or more wisdom teeth. If your wisdom tooth doesn't have enough room to grow or has other problems resulting in pain, infection or other dental problems, you'll probably need to have it extracted.

Root canal therapy is performed by an endodontist - a dentist who specializes in tooth pain, disease, and infection. Endodontists have extra training that helps them diagnose and treat tooth pain and perform root canals, a special procedure designed to save an infected or decayed tooth. Endodontists treat problems involving the inside of the tooth, an area known as the "tooth pulp."
