The Ludus was founded by Mike Patrick, Joe Haggerty, Jordan Haggerty, and Tom Capaldi. These five bring over 80 years of martial arts experience and over 1,000 amateur combat matches in wrestling, boxing, hapkido, tae kwon do, submission wrestling, and muay thai. The Ludus will offer classes, open mat time, high level personal training, and customized fitness and nutrition plans.

Boxing

History- Boxing is one of the worlds oldest martial arts. It can be traced back to ancient Iraq (Sumeria) nearly 5000 years ago. It was introduced by the Greeks at the 23rd ancient Olympics. Later the Romans introduced boxing to the death in public arenas, this was later banned for excessive brutality.
Mixed Martial Arts

History- The original "mixing" of martial arts is impossible to pinpoint as styles having taken techniques from each other for as long as there have been martial arts. The Greek combat sport of pankration is the first well known art to combine two established styles of fighting when they brought together the strikes of boxing and the throws of wrestling.

History- Since there has been competition in martial arts the practitioners have prepared their bodies through training. Drilling technique, punching sandbags, throwing rocks, lifting logs, running, and swimming were all popular exercise methods for early boxing and wrestling.
