David A. Kingrey, M.D. joined The Ochsner Eye Center in 1998, and founded what is now Vision Surgery Consultants. Dr. Kingrey is a native of Wichita and a graduate of The University of Kansas Medical School. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Kingrey completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Ohio State University.

However, cataracts do not result in permanent vision loss. While there are numerous causes of cataracts, age is the most common factor.

Glaucoma is an eye disorder in which the optic nerve is damaged in the back of the eye. It is often, but not always, associated with increased pressure of the fluid in the eye. Untreated glaucoma leads to permanent damage of the optic nerve and results in visual field loss, which can progress to blindness.
