Briggs Funeral Home, a division of J. Briggs, Inc., is a family owned and operated business. They operate funeral homes in Denton, Candor and Troy, North Carolina and Rex Furniture Company in Denton. The company is owned by Jack & Joan Briggs and the home office is in Denton. They own & operate Mountain View Memorial Gardens, a perpetual care cemetery in Denton.

Briggs is a full service funeral home offering personal service by the owners family along with a very capable staff that have been with the firm for many years. The Briggs Family including son, Daniel also co-own and operate other funeral home companies in the Piedmont and Sandhill area's of North Carolina.

In 1910 two Denton residents W. W. Russell and B. I. Harrison founded Piedmont Furniture Company selling furniture and "Undertaking Supplies". They changed the Name around 1917 to Rex Furniture and Undertaking because a company in Lexington, the county seat, was using the name Piedmont. In 1919 the company was sold to Carl A. Hoover.
