Our community was founded in 1946 by a group of determined and visionary Jewish women who recognized a need to establish a home for the elderly, serving people with Jewish needs as well as others with special care needs from the greater Jacksonville community.

We have a long and storied history as a not-for-profit mission driven community agency at the heart of which is the 5th Commandment, "Honor thy father and thy mother so that thy days might be long upon the earth which I the Lord give thee." Serving older people with Jewish needs was the original goal of the Ladies' Hebrew Sheltering Aid Society when it was founded in 1922.
