The original Hotel Tybee was constructed in 1889. This amazing hotel also offered rental cottages, and a world-class beach front dancing pavilion. During this period, Tybee Island was only accessible by an 18-mile train ride from Savannah. The train would deliver guests to the front door of the resort.
