Traditional Aikido Training for All Ages
Aikido North Jersey has been dedicated to teaching the art of Aikido since 1997, founded by Jerry Zimmerman, a Rokudan (Sixth-Degree Black Belt) certified Shihan. Our dojo emphasizes the principles of peace, love, and mind-body unification, offering training for children, teens, and adults. With over 40 years of teaching experience, Jerry Zimmerman trained directly under Yoshimitsu Yamada Sensei, one of the world's most renowned Aikido masters. Our programs focus on non-violent self-defense techniques rooted in centuries-old Samurai traditions while fostering physical fitness, mental clarity, and personal growth. The dojo maintains strong ties to the International Aikido Federation and United States Aikido Federation, ensuring adherence to global standards.

Our instructors, including multiple Dan-ranked practitioners, create a supportive environment where students develop confidence, discipline, and community spirit. The traditional training space in Teaneck, NJ, provides a welcoming atmosphere for all skill levels. Regular classes include specialized sessions for different age groups, weapons training, and Japanese sword instruction. We prioritize individual progress over competition, allowing students to master techniques at their own pace. Our commitment to O-Sensei's founding principles ensures each practitioner gains practical self-defense skills while cultivating inner strength and awareness.

This dojo is a family - a loving, warm, inviting family - and we have been welcomed with open arms. My son has been going through a rough period exhibiting issues with aggression and attention-seeking. Sensei, Ms. Crystal, and all of the instructors have been incredibly supportive and patient. They are so adept at teaching not only the physical aspects of Aikido, but the principles behind it as well. We are grateful for their commitment to our family and truly fortunate to be a part of theirs.
