Choi Martial Arts Academy
Choi Martial Arts Academy located at the corner of Madison Avenue and Southport Road, is Indiana's oldest Tae Kwon Do school and the largest martial arts studio on Indianapolis' South side. We offer children, adult and family martial arts classes for all skill levels. Grandmaster Min H. Choi was born in Busan, Korea and as a teenager he was accepted into Korea's most prestigious martial art school, the Ji Do Kwan, Academy of Self Defense.

He established the first ever Tae Kwon Do School in the State of Indiana in 1971. In 1973 he was recognized by the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police for training Police Officers and Physical Education Instructors for the Indiana Police Department (IPD ) Training Academy. Today Grandmaster Min H. Choi is a 9th Degree Black Belt and has been teaching Tae Kwon Do for over 40 years in Indianapolis, Indiana.

A weapon is a force multiplier and extension of the wielder's body. A humble staff is transformed into a substantial advantage when in the hands of a well trained practitioner. Modern weapons like the rifle will never be replaced of course but traditional weapons like the staff are simple and effective.
After School Program

Your child's day begins when picked up from school by one of our qualified drivers in one of our safe fleet vehicles. Students are then given homework help in our classroom supervised by a real school teacher. Healthy snacks are also provided at this time. Next up is martial arts class. Parents may choose to have their child participate in Early Kid Class 4:45-5:45pm or Late Kid Class 6-7pm.

Grand Master Min Choi is a 9th degree black belt and for more than 50 years, he has inspired confidence in thousands of children. Choi's Martial Arts Academy was the first martial arts school in Indiana. Grand Master Choi also earned a diploma from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Headquarters for his instruction of police officers.

All children deserve Master Level Instruction with our caring teachers. Grand Master Min Choi takes pride in personally teaching the kid classes. He doesn't pass this responsibility off on an underqualified student like many other martial arts schools do. Grand Master Choi believes child classes need the best instruction possible because they are the future of our art.

Martial arts will help you develop physically. Martial arts require real world functional strength, coordination and timing, flexibility and endurance. The fast paced modern world can be stressful. Work, school, family obligations and other responsibilities take their toll on you. Making time for you and your health is going to help you stay on top of those responsibilities and you're going to have fun doing it!
