Established in 1876 by Phillip Ott, Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services have been servicing the Michigan City area with a professional, full-service facility for over 137 years. Today, Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services remains the oldest of all of the city's morticians, with the most expansive history and dedication to the community.

The traditional funeral service is normally preceded by a private and public visitation. The funeral often consists of scripture reading, prayer, eulogies, sometimes a sermon, and music. If the deceased is not present, a memorial service is employed to remember the loved one. Following the service, the funeral procession drives to the cemetery for the committal service (either burial or cremation).

Private family services will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Indiana at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1010 Moore Road, Long Beach, Indiana with Rev. Keith McClellan officiating.

Our Staff

Lynn has been President of Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services since 1977. A longtime member of and contributor to the community, Lynn attended Rolling Prairie High School and the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. Lynn's background also includes being Former Chief Deputy Coroner of LaPorte County (Michigan City District) from 1984 to 1992.
