For New Patients
Report
Our center is dedicated to helping children and adults treat a variety of vision problems that cannot be corrected with regular eyeglasses and contact lenses. This includes treating lazy eye (amblyopia), eye turns (strabismus), and a variety of eye coordination and eye movement disorders as well as vision problems that interfere with reading and learning.
Vision & Learning Connection
Report
20/20 Isn't EverythingMost children have no idea how they are supposed to see. Therefore it is important that you know the signs that a vision problem is interfering with your child's ability to read and learn. One out of four children struggle with reading and learning because of undiagnosed vision problems.
What is Vision Therapy
Report
Vision therapy is much like "physical therapy", but rather than treating the muscles of the body, it works on the eyes and visual system. It is an invaluable tool that has changed not only our patients' vision, but has improved many related areas of their lives as well. The first step of a vision therapy program is a thorough examination with Dr. Sorkin to determine if vision therapy is the best course of care.
Signs & Symptoms
Report
Unfortunately, many people do not know the signs of vision problems that interfere with academic success. Most certainly, children rarely report they are having visual difficulties. There are physical clues that point to possible vision problems, but surprisingly, many of the symptoms that would indicate a person is having vision problems seem unrelated to vision.
