Like so many origin stories, the beginning of the Nicholas Law Firm starts with an bang. In 1989, the firm opened its doors in the City of Torrington, Connecticut. In 1990, Jeff Nicholas took over the practice of venerated Litchfield attorney, Louis Erteschik, who relocated to Hawaii.

Attorney Erteschik spent time in the Hawaiian legislature and currently serves as an Administrative Law Judge in the Department of Environmental Protection in the state.Initially, the office was composed mostly of Jeff Nicholas and a few part-time family members. Now "Attorney Nicholas, " Jeff continued to grow the firm through principles of hard work, client focus, and flexibility.

In 2017 NLF won three Workers' Compensation Formal Hearings, including one "Osterlund" permanent total claim and won three Federal District Court appeals, in addition to numerous Social Security claims. The Firm additionally prevailed at the Workers' Compensation Commission Review Board. Workers' Compensation Settlement: Client suffered post concussive syndrome after a fall at work.
H. H. Peck Carriage House

The H.H. Peck Carriage House in Waterbury, Connecticut houses the Waterbury branch of the Nicholas Law Firm as well as several other professional offices. The Nicholas Law Firm purchased this gem from the American Savings Bank in 2000. This elegant building has a rich history dating back to 1898. The building was originally constructed in the late 19th century to house the horses of local public servant and businessman Henry H. Peck.

Commitment to Community is something the Nicholas Law Firm takes very seriously. From an early age, Attorney Nicholas' family impressed upon him the importance of volunteering one's time and money to noble causes.

As such, Attorney Nicholas has served the Northwest Connecticut community as a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and his teen efforts earned him the prestigious Marinko award in recognition of a high school senior athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of athletic ability, courage, integrity, leadership, scholarship, service and versatility.Attorney Nicholas has sought to instill those same qualities in his family.

When you've represented victims of car accidents, work accidents, dog bites, etc. as we have at the Nicholas Law Firm (25 years!), time is a flat circle. We recently uncovered a stash of old commercials and, well, some pure gold. At least we know Attorney Nicholas spoke the truth when he said he would get the grey hair!
