Pediatric Therapy Services in Johnson City, TN
Founded in 2003, TalkBack Pediatric Therapy has grown from a specialized speech therapy provider to a comprehensive pediatric therapy clinic serving Northeast Tennessee. Our team of licensed professionals collaborates across disciplines to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's unique needs. With three dedicated pediatric locations in Johnson City and Kingsport, we offer services in-clinic, at home, in daycare settings, and through telehealth platforms. Our therapists maintain state licensure and participate in ongoing continuing education to stay current with the latest techniques in pediatric care. We prioritize early intervention, working closely with local pediatricians and the Tennessee Early Intervention System to address developmental delays promptly.

Parental involvement is integral to our approach, with home programs designed to reinforce therapeutic progress beyond clinical sessions. Our facilities are equipped to address a wide range of conditions including autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing issues, motor coordination challenges, and communication disorders. Through our Applied Behavior Analysis clinic established in 2021, we provide specialized therapy for children with autism diagnoses. All our services adhere to strict confidentiality standards compliant with HIPAA regulations, ensuring patient information remains secure while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.

Services
Speech Therapy
Our speech therapy services assess and treat communication disorders in children, addressing speech production, language development, and alternative communication methods. Therapists use play-based techniques to improve articulation, fluency, and social communication skills while addressing feeding and swallowing difficulties. Each treatment plan incorporates home practice programs to reinforce progress in natural environments.
Occupational Therapy
Pediatric occupational therapy develops fine motor skills, sensory processing abilities, and daily living skills through play-based interventions. Our therapists address handwriting difficulties, visual-motor coordination, and sensory integration challenges while providing adaptive equipment recommendations. Treatment focuses on improving attention, muscle strength, and coordination to support age-appropriate activities and school readiness.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapy services enhance gross motor development and functional mobility in children through targeted interventions. Therapists address balance issues, gait abnormalities, and post-surgical rehabilitation while developing home exercise programs. Treatment incorporates play activities to improve strength, endurance, and coordination for essential developmental milestones like sitting, walking, and jumping.
ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis therapy uses evidence-based techniques to improve communication, social skills, and academic performance in children with autism spectrum disorders. Our board-certified therapists implement individualized programs that reinforce positive behaviors through motivating activities while reducing challenging behaviors through functional assessment and replacement strategies.
ADOS Assessment
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 assessment provides standardized evaluation for autism spectrum disorder diagnosis in children over 12 months. Our trained clinicians use structured observations and interactive activities to assess communication, social interaction, and play skills, following evidence-based protocols from the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center training program.

What my son has done so far with OT has been good. They did a speech assessment and then have taken forever to return calls and get him in a slot. The receptionist here is terrible. Never returned several voicemails. I don't have contact for his therapists yet the voicemail says to contact your child's therapist. This is a great concept to have all therapies in one place but very poor execution. The lack of receptionist is killing this place. There's no continuity of care, poor communication, and delay between assessment and getting in with a therapist. They can't offer him everything he needs

After reading the reviews it seems like Im not the first to complain about the receptionist! She was rude and hateful. Every time you call it goes straight to voicemail and 2 weeks I waited for a call back from her to reschedule and she never did! When I called today I was told my daughters spot was filled. So even though I called to cancel and reschedule I wasnt able to. When I ask for her supervisor she said well good. I do feel if she doesnt like her job maybe she should quit! Also one receptionist for two facilities? Maybe they need to hire another!

Weve been going here for over a year now. The therapists are great, the receptionist Jen is welcoming and I feel like my son has improved so much. The only negative is the HVAC unit can make it really hot or really cold in the waiting area.

I am sad that I have to leave a negative review because my kids have actually benefited from the services offered at talkback, however I have one big issue with them. They have a very strict attendance policy, so strict that parents feel obligated to bring their sick children. This place is a breeding ground for sickness. In the short time that my kids have gone there we, as a family, have gotten the flu, pneumonia twice, 3 sinus infections, bronchitis, and now hand, foot and mouth. Usually hfm is mild in Children, which it has been, but it really sucks in adults. They need to really reevaluate

We Love the services of Talkback, Inc. The office staff are both, friendly and courteous, knowlegable and concise, when it comes to the special needs of the children they take in. I have to give a special review for Ms. Sheleena our sons OT. She has been the BEST and FOREMOST influence on his skills and adaptability in helping with him, and us, in these formative years. If EARLY INTERVENTION is the key... Ms. Sheleena is the Keychain!
