It is estimated worldwide that one out of every seven couples has problems conceiving, including 9 million people in the United States. There are many causes of infertility, most of which are treatable by medical and alternative therapies. Research shows that approximately 60% of cases are due to female infertility, and 40% are due to male infertility, although many cases are unexplained, or due to combined factors from both partners.
In Vitro Fertilization IVF

IVF is the uniting of egg and sperm in vitro (in the lab). Typically involving ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilization, and embryo transfer, IVF is a treatment for infertility commonly employed once other methods of assisted reproductive technologies have failed.

Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is one of two gonadotropins secreted from the pituitary gland to regulate ovarian function and follicular growth and maturation (LH or luteinizing hormone is the other). FSH stimulates ovarian estrogen production and appears to play a critical role in the selection of a dominant follicle.
Fallopian Tube Blockage

32% of all cases of infertility are attributed to Fallopian tube blockage. Tubal blockages can prevent the egg and sperm from meeting, thus impairing fertilization, or can prevent the movement of a fertilized egg into the uterus. It is possible to have bilateral or unilateral Fallopian tube blockage, spasms of the tubes, mucus plugs, fluid buildup (hydrosalpinx) or scar tissue in the Fallopian tubes.
