I have been a team member with Dr. Esterkyn since 1995 and have been in the orthodontic field since 1979. The best part of my role on this team is watching our patient's start out nervous and unsure of what to expect to seeing the transformation in not only their smiles but their confidence as well.
When I am not helping create gorgeous smiles I enjoy crafting, crocheting and spending time with my family. My dental career started 25 years ago but I have been on Dr. Esterkyn's team since 1999. I enjoy building relationships with patients, helping them through each step. For patients who are feeling a bit fearful about a visit, I talk them through the process and stay by their side.

First Visit

Dr. Brent Sexton and Dr. John Esterkyn will conduct a thorough clinical orthodontic examination and explain all aspects of treatment himself. If orthodontic treatment is indicated at this time, an appointment for Diagnostic Records is scheduled. If time allows, these diagnostic records can be taken at the initial visit.

The cost of your orthodontic treatment may vary depending on your individual needs and treatment plan. Dr. Brent Sexton, Dr. John I. Esterkyn, and their staff will discuss with you the cost of your treatment, and each of your available payment plan options so that you are able to make the best choice for you and your smile.

As a courtesy to you and your family dentist, we will always discuss the feasibility of braces or tooth straightening without charging a fee for the initial consultation. As a rule of thumb, we like to evaluate young patients after the 6-year molars erupt and the front permanent teeth just start to appear.
Early Orthodontics

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that most children should have an orthodontic screening by age 7. This allows Dr. Brent Sexton and Dr. John Esterkyn to determine if orthodontic treatment will be required and the best time for the patient to be treated. Many of the dentists in our community have been trained to identify orthodontic problems early, and may refer you to our office earlier than age 7.
