Burien Cooperative Preschool
Children at Burien Cooperative Preschool are free to explore and satisfy their needs and curiosity through the magic of play. We inspire families to grow alongside their children while building a strong and lasting community. We construct our school environment to foster creativity and exploration for our kids.

Our classrooms are designed to engage children in multifaceted creation, dramatic play, art, and physical movement. For our parents, we provide an environment of encouragement, learning, and a sense of community to support families as they adapt to the ever-changing challenges of raising little humans.
Services
Our School
Report
At Burien Cooperative Preschool we celebrate our ages and stages. While we are constantly learning here, our foremost goal is not to prepare for kindergarten, but to meet the needs of today. We strive to meet children where they are and provide ample opportunities to tackle the building blocks of social life, get their hands dirty in arts and sciences, and foster a love of learning and nature.
Our Classes
Report
These weekly classes are designed to be a young child's first introduction to cooperative preschool. Along with a parent or caregiver, the children (ages 12-24 months) will explore a variety of materials, sing songs, dance, play, and interact with peers. Duties of participating families include working with the class each week, attending a monthly parent meeting, and taking on a class job.
Our Teachers
Report
Megan Rettenmaier is our wonderful 3's and 4's teacher and Danielle Doll is our amazing 1's and 2's teacher. Our beloved teacher Gloria is on a leave of absence for the 2021-22 school year and planning to return in 2022-23. Hi! I'm Teacher Gloria and I've been teaching here at Burien Co-op Preschool since 1991-from a cavernous church basement to the wonderful school we have today.

Report
Every year we must raise money to meet our annual budget and hopefully have a bit to save for the future. This money benefits all preschool families directly by keeping tuition low, maintaining and improving our classrooms and paying our wonderful teachers. We strive to choose fundraising activities that are fun, strengthen the bonds among co-op families and invite the community into our sphere.

Other costs associated with membership at the preschool may include supplies, activities, and field trips. Three checks are collected at the beginning of the year that will not be cashed unless obligations are not met. Please make checks payable to Burien Cooperative Preschool and write your child's name and class on all checks.
