Alta Head Start/Early Head Start is a pre-school program - licensed by the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services - that is designed to improve the quality of life for children ages birth to 5 years old and give them a "Head Start" in education. Mahoning County Children ages birth through 5 years old are eligible to apply for Alta Early Head Start or Alta Head Start.
Parents can go through the entire application process in person. Or, you can begin the process with one of our two online options, and complete it with an in-person visit. No child will be excluded from the Alta Head Start/Early Head Start program because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin or special-needs condition.
