Family Petitions

Family based immigration is divided into categories based upon the petitioner's (sponsor's) status as either a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident and their relationship to the sponsored relative. There are a limited number of visas which dictates how long it may take from the time that a family petition is filed until the sponsored family member can apply for their residency.
H1-B Visa

The employment of professionals (and fashion models) on a full-time or part-time basis in businesses in the United States. The applicant must be sponsored by a U.S. business for a position, which is nationally recognized as requiring a Bachelor's degree in order to perform it. To find out whether a position is recognized as professional (requiring a Bachelor's degree) you can consult the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook.
L1-A Visa
Report
The transfer of international managers, executives, and persons with specialized knowledge from foreign companies to their related companies in the United States. The applicant must have worked for the foreign company in an executive, a managerial or a position of specialized knowledge for at least one full-time year in the past three years.
E-3 Visa for Australian Professionals
Report
The E-3 visa is for the professional employment of Australian nationals in the United States. You must have an offer of employment from a US business for a job in a particular profession and you must meet the education and/or licensure requirements for that profession. A benefit to this status is that it can be used as an alternative to the H-1B (the primary professional visa) which is subject to numerical caps and frequently is used up early.
