Dr. Baxendell founded the hospital in 2001 after establishing a large animal practice in 1998. A Cornell graduate, she specializes in small animal surgery and equine dentistry while maintaining broad clinical expertise.
Dr. Katherine Dart
Veterinarian
Dr. Dart joined the team in 2005, providing care for both large and small animals. She graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and Swarthmore College, bringing diverse clinical experience.
Michelle Cheff
Practice Manager / Veterinary Technician
With veterinary experience since 1985, Michelle manages operations while contributing technical expertise. She has worked in multiple states and holds an associate degree in veterinary technology.
Kaitlin Houck
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kaitlin graduated from Alfred State College in 2010 with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She joined GCAH shortly after graduating and provides skilled technical support for all animal cases.
Alison Murphy
Veterinary Assistant
Alison joined the team in 2015 after completing veterinary certification. With 12+ years of animal care experience including shelter work and grooming, she contributes practical expertise to patient care.

We care for dogs, cats, horses, alpacas, llamas, goats, and sheep. Our doctors have specialized training in camelid medicine and equine care.

What are your regular business hours?
Monday 8am-5pm, Tuesday 8am-6pm, Wednesday 8am-2pm, Thursday 7am-6pm, Friday 8am-5pm, and alternating Saturdays 8am-12pm.
Do you provide dental care for pets?
Yes, we offer comprehensive dental services including cleanings, extractions, and specialized small animal dentistry performed by experienced veterinarians.

I had to find a new vet when I got my puppy, our old vet was just too far away after the move. We figured wed try Groton city vet out and if we didnt like them wed keep looking. Well we never kept looking. Groton city vet has been amazing! Taking great care of my dog, very professional and personable. Its been a while since I had a vet that didnt upcharge everything and make it a struggle to care for my dog. I love this place.
