In the late 60's, after serving in the military, John J. Karle, the founder of Karle Coachwork, moved with his wife Colleen from upper State New York to Colorado Springs. He had learned his trade from his father-in-law and started his own business by doing restoration work for Mercedes and Porsche clubs.
