If I could give JJ Land 0 stars I would. If you can live somewhere else do it! Not only does my heat and hot water go out in the middle of winter but we have vermin. Oh! And My neighbors smoke into our vents right by my newborn baby's crib. I can't even bathe my baby half the time because of the hot water situation! JJ Land has not responded to my emails or calls. Has taken no action to fix the heat and hot water which is a violation of our lease. The ONE time they did respond they offered me a space heater! They are Not Responsive, and provide their tenants with slum like housing. PLEASE

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! My girlfriend and I rented a 1 bedroom apartment from them back in February, and as you'll see from the pictures I've included, there was a reoccurring sewage problem that JJ Land refused to handle even after several complaints. Raw sewage came spewing out of our tub drain several times, and our storage unit has completely flooded several times! Their only offered solution was to move us into a much more expensive apartment and expected us to pay the difference! Our personal items were ruined from sewage water and JJ land said it was an insurance companies problem

Horrible. Absolutely disgusting company. I provided them with everything they needed on application and they said everything looked good. A week goes by and I heard nothing from them, so I decided to call and the lady who answered was EXTREMELY RUDE. She said the application did not go through. I had already submitted a deposit. Why not now? I figured after submitting copies of ID that these people are racist. The tactics used over the phone and the conversation was lacking professionalism as a whole. The lady said it was a 150 dollar charge coming out of my deposit after being denied for a rental

Rented from them mostly out of desperation, and quickly discovered that they are slumlords of the highest order. Properties are poorly maintained, and don't believe a word of their promises about '24-hour maintenance.' Like other tenants who have also left reviews, I had part of my ceiling collapse after heavy rain. This should, of course, not happen in the first place, and, like other reviews indicate, not a single person at the office seemed to care about getting the issue fixed. On top of this, I suspect rampant mold growth in the ceiling, indicative of a long history of shoddy

Rented with this company for about three years. The apartment definitely had some issues but nothing that was major or not an easy fix. When I first moved in the carpet was in terrible need of being replaced and after calling the company one of the girls came out to see how it actually looked. Within a month I had new carpet placed. Any other maintenance issue was fixed pretty fast, unless it was something that they considered not major issue then it could take a while. Everyone in the office was always very friendly when I would stop by to drop off my rent. I needed to break my lease about 4 months

They lack communication & overall do not care about their tenants. My husband and I have lived here almost two years, and we have had so many issues. They had contractors mistakenly come into our apartment and redo our bathtub while we weren't home, and they trapped our pets in the fumes all day. They have sent maintenance workers out to "fix" things after we have informed them that we do not need any further assistance. They have scheduled maintenance appointments and then nobody ever shows up. Horrible. As of now, my husband and I are working from home during corona. Today

I've rented with JJ Land since August, and plan to continue to do so for another year. They've been mostly fine landlords, at least from my experience, although their responsiveness to maintenance requests leaves something to be desired (we've had an ongoing issue with some water pipes in the basement that has still not been resolved after about 5 months). However, as of writing this review, they have yet to acknowledge or reach out to a tenants council that has formed to express our concerns amid the COVID-19 crisis. A lot of people are facing instability right now, much of which

This company sucks. I don't understand how it is still operating. We had issues with the roof leaking after a particularly heavy day. Part of the plaster on the ceiling fell. It has been two weeks already and nothing has been addressed. We keep getting excuses about how the issue will be solved promptly (we were told that would send someone to patch the roof the day immediately after our report). Nothing has been done. We called multiple tiimes since and were always met with unhelpful responses about how they were just about to send someone or someone has already been there. There has been

I've lived in one of JJ's apartments in an old Victorian building in Friendship for about half a year now. Like any old building there are occasionally some issues, but management has always been quick to respond with a solution every time we've needed them.
Most recently was a plumbing problem that required a replacement of some major pipes in the building. The plumbing crew that JJ sent out was top notch, got the job done quickly and professionally. Zack and his crew even upgraded the sink and toilet while fixing up the pipes, so it's like having a brand new bathroom!

Oh how I wish I could give a 0 star review.
My roommate and I ended just finished a one year lease in a JJ Land apartment but we were ready to move out after just 3 months of living there. We ended up renting an apartment with JJ Land mainly out of convenience. We were in a rush to find a place, the rent was cheap, and they had a decent pet policy. When we viewed the apartment, the woman who showed us the property was super kind (and all my future interactions with her were as well) and we fooled by some of the flashing selling points (i.e., a dishwasher, new tiling and vanity in the bathroom

I lived in an apartments at 438 S. graham for two years. It was a really nice old victorian they had reconstructed a decent kitchen space in. It was by far the cheapest one bedroom of quality I have seen - it made excellent use of a modicum of square footage and was delivered to me in a fresh state.
The windows - two of them would fall inwards if I moved them up or down incautiously. I did not particularly care, as I can be mindful. I manipulated them with a steady pressure to hold them against the frame. Easy. This is the reasoning for an excellent price, and I was happy to have the other values

Don't let these slumlords profit off of the rising rents in East Liberty by making the mistake of renting from them. They're skyrocketing their rents while the quality of their units and staff goes down the tubes.
JJ Land's customer service was middling at best when I first starting living with them, and in a new and recently updated building that's fine, but when the building is 100 years old and in serious need of huge structural repairs that can make living a misery. They used to respond decently to repairs, but in the last year I had 3 different leaks in my ceiling, each

Folks,
Please do not get carried away by the lower rental prices this company has to offer unless you are ok with water leaks, ceiling collapses gas leaks, a broken garage door and losing heat all in a short span of a year and half. The properties are not all maintained well and the lease agreement is certainly created perfectly to protect the company. I don't blame them but beware that you get what you pay for.
If you want to live hassle free which most renters would prefer, please do not rent from JJ Land.

I rented from JJ Land for two years. I had a small apartment with a low rent.
JJ was extremely receptive to my needs while moving in and moving out.
When I called maintenance, they performed the service I expected given the cost of my rent.
I feel JJ Land is an adequate budget landlord. You get what you pay for. My rent was cheap. They seemed to try to do a triage when it came to repairs. They were extremely quick for one emergency I encountered and inadequate for another emergency when we suffered a communication breakdown and they didn't understand the scope of the issue.
