Walker, Inc. Funeral Home was founded in 1959 as a subsidiary of the Walker Family's funeral home located in Queens, which was founded circa 1900. The funeral home changed ownership from the Walker Family to the Baxter Family in 1987 as a result of the retirement of the Walker's from funeral service.

Jim is a life long Merrick resident and has worked at N. F. Walker, Inc. for over 50 years. Mr. Gavigan's start came with the Walker family. He continues to be a valuable asset as his tenure and community activities have garnered an understanding in many community issues. As an Army veteran he is always proud to assist with Veteran issues.
