Johns Place

After two weeks in North Carolina eating primarily Cracker Barrel I walked to this place which I hadn't tried before And will be returning. Recommend the double stack burger for all men!

We live in the neighborhood, so we’ve frequented John’s Place about 3-4 times, so far. Stopped by with my daughter today - I had the Brisket Hash, which was made to perfection, and my little one had the kid’s cheeseburger with apple slices. I was impressed with the cheeseburger, especially for kids menu, and apple slices looked “clean” and fresh.… I’m not a foodie, but I do pay attention to every meal. Only minor concern was the attention of the waitstaff, out waitress was very brisk and I could barely request another item before she ran away. The owner

Best burgers and sweet potato fries. Kids love the mini corn dogs and mac and cheese. Great salads!

I'm in walking distance, but don't often order from them. The food is good enough, but their prices seem higher for similar menu items in the neighborhood. Their brunch is definitely great. They've started doing weekly family meal nights though. My wife and I sprung for the Greek Fest last night, $50 for 2 servings.

There was a Greek salad, pita, cold apps like hummus + olives + a few mixed vegs, 3 small chicken and veg kabobs, a generous portion of pastitsio, and some baklava to finish. All of it was worthy of a Greek restaurant.

Support them during the pandemic, but DO NOT order delivery from their website. They use Chow Now, which fraudulently makes you think they are the delivery company-- you are paying a marketing company, who pays a delivery company - Door Dash. We deleted Door Dash from our phones because the food has always been cold and late (40 minutes late tonight-- and 4 phone calls later we figure out what happened). Support John's Place and pick up the food yourself! By the way, Chow Now has an F rating from the BBB (just filed a complaint there as well... happy Friday night)

We wait every week to come and enjoy brunch in this place, is amazing!! Service was on point and drinks never disappoint!!

Really solid spot in the neighborhood. My wife and I had breakfast here last weekend. Both of our meals were great. Our server was just as great and was very attentive. He offered us a free drink since our order was taking a little while (which we didn't even think it was). Nice place!!

We were excited to support local businesses so went to Johns for dinner. Very good crab/shrimp roll and fries. The buttered New England roll that it's served on was delicious and very authentic to a seafood roll you'd get back East. Also tried the harvest bowl and it was good but would suggest adding a protein.

Stopped by here on accident because my original destination had a long wait. What a great decision. Had the cowboy burger and a few beers with some friends. The food was excellent. One of the best burgers I've had. I don't necessarily know what I was expecting but my hopes weren't all that high.. just wanted to enjoy the nice weather on their patio. Burger ended up being amazing. Beers were ice cold. Patio setting was great. Service was excellent.. our server was Rachel. She was super nice and very on top of her game. This place has great vibes. I'll definitely be coming back

I'm confused how this is only 3.5 stars. The food is fantastic and the service is amazing. My fiancé and I love this place.

Seriously - go there, eat inside, and just watch how many locals come in to pick up their to go orders and chat with the folks working there.

People whine too much on Yelp. This place is great.

I've been to John's Pmace twice because it's one of T's go to places for the Cobb or Southwest salads. For me it's the burgers. Food is always very good and service is friendly and attentive. Paul helped us today and he was great.

Outdoor seating in the summer is very nice. A local place that many come to over and over, and I know I'll be back.

This is the perfect neighborhood place to bring your kids and/or a date. The staff are amazing. The owner is more likely than not in the restaurant every night. There is not much more we ask for! The food is also delicious 😋

The food was really great and everyone was super friendly. As soon as we came in our server was there to take our order. The building itself is also cool. There are unique oil paintings all around and the seating was comfortable too.

A good place for comfort food and the service there was quick and friendly. When we went there were two toddlers doing what toddlers usually do-which is make a mess and our server took it in stride and definitely gave off a 'cool with it' vibe.

When she got to us, I asked her what the soup was.
'Chicken avocado'
Umm...really? Must avocado be put in EVERYTHING? Well, I like chicken soup so I ordered it preparing to be unhappy but was pleasantly surprised, besides the color the avocado just added a smoothness and body to the soup that was actually good.

I got the Blackjack

An excellent breakfast choice. Had the eggs and sausage with a pancake that was superbly prepared.
Two had the granola and yogurt and were very satisfied. Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice a plus for me!

A definite for a second visit when visiting Chicago

The Pulled pork hash is the way to go for breakfast or brunch. John's place is a must for me any time I'm in town.

Did you every go to a place with a pub-type menu and have everything taste bland? That's the opposite of John's. A great local place where almost everything I've tried is tasty, from burgers to breakfast burritos. Dare I say it, they've really figured out the ideal hangover recovery menu.

A group of us had the 5 dollar burger and fries special. Very good value for the price. Nice atmosphere.

Great food, great service, great people. John is very attentive and makes sure customers are happy. We come to eat here every time we visit from Portland. A Roscoe Village staple!
