In the early to mid 80's a handful of corporations around the country, began a mission to consolidate as many of the family-owned funeral homes as possible. With the threat of competition no longer an issue, they began charging exorbitant rates and turning the American Funeral Industry into a multi-billion dollar market.

We have a beautiful facility located in the residential district of historical downtown Elgin, Texas. Landscaping and Interior design provides the community with a warm, comfortable home environment to serve families in times of need. Elgin Funeral Home has the capacity to comfortably accommodate 214 people in our chapel for funeral or memorial services.

Dick and Gloria Williams and their two daughters, Linda & Mary Ann moved to Elgin in the mid 60's, when after purchasing a locally-owned Main Street grocery store from Eli & Laverne Aronson.In 1971, they built and operated the Williams Grocery store at the corner of 2nd & Main Streets. In 1985, they co-founded the Elgin Funeral Home with several local business people.

Direct Burial is the minimum requirement for carrying out a Funeral Rite with dignity and compassion. Due to the growing demand for simplicity and natural burials, Elgin Funeral Home has tailored an option to suit those needs.

This charge includes our Professional Services of Funeral Director and Staff at a reduced proportionate rate, Removal of the Deceased from the place of death, temporary shelter of unembalmed remains for up to 48 hours, obtaining necessary authorizations, permits and death certificates, and Bathing/Disinfecting Unembalmed Remains, Use of Facilities and Staff for a Graveside Service.
Cremation Services

Direct Cremation charge is all-inclusive, which includes an Alternative Container, our Professional Services of Funeral Director and Staff fee at a reduced proportionate rate, Removal of the Deceased from the place of death, obtaining necessary authorizations, permits and death certificates, transportation to and from the crematorium, and Crematorium Fee.
