The good:
They have their own parking lot directly behind the restaurant (past the narrow road that takes you there). I like that you can make reservations in advance online and prepay for it. I got reservations here as a Christmas present so some of my family members. Alcohol is not included in the pre-fixed menu but they do have 3 options for wine pairing that ranges in prices. There were around 11 courses (some of them were complimentary additional courses that weren't shown on the menu). We tried three breads (from their bakery downtown), a rabbit terrine wrapped in bacon (very pretty

Yummy food and a lovely experience at Adega, SJ's only Michelin-starred restaurant. There is clearly a lot of time and energy put into crafting a great menu and experience. Though we were only expecting 7 courses, all the compliments of the chefs and extras made it 13! I was honestly expecting that we might still be hungry when we left, but we were absolutely stuffed.

I would say the regular prix fixe experience is probably five stars. However, I got the pescatarian menu and, as is probably to be expected, the courses with substitutions weren't as good as the courses that didn&apos

Was glad to hear Adega received another MS so came back for my third time. Having been to Portugal many times Adega definitely captures the Portuguese spirit while dialing it all the way up for an elite dining experience. Previous visits I did a la carte menu but it's (I think) currently configured only as a 7 course tasting menu so was excited to try that. Excellent service & food as always. Got several mixed drinks, all fantastic. Other goodies sprinkled throughout the meal which made it an extra memorable experience.

Tldr: Go once if you love wine (and upgrade to the premium selection). Go once if you love tasting menus and haven't tried Portuguese food yet. Go once if you can easily afford the meal. Skip if this stretches your budget and you want a special meal - there are way better options.

This was a 3.5 star meal that I round up because how hard they're working during a pandemic.

When I go to a restaurant like Adega, I have high expectations. There are several dimensions that a Michelin star restaurant should be judged by: service, presentation, creativity or inventiveness, food quality, and

Adega is the only Michelin Star restaurant in San Jose, and the only Michelin Star Portuguese restaurant in the US. I was in town for business, then pleasure so I thought I would treat myself to one glorious spectacular meal.

Reservations required! I made a reservation a few weeks in advance through their website. They use the Tock platform. You need your credit card and will making the full payment to reserve. Reservations cannot be cancelled, but able to transfer. There was only one option at the time of my selection so I had the 7-course Chef's Tasting Menu ($199/person).

I really enjoyed my meal. Adega is decorated beautifully and the staff is so friendly and passionate about the Portuguese food and wine. I definitely enjoyed the seafood most.
I also had a couple cocktails. Delicious and very impressed by the bartender’s attention to detail.
Adega is definitely an oasis in San Jose. By far the best restaurant in the area. Well deserved Michelin star.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic experience here. We can here to celebrate my birthday and they definitely left me with memories I won't soon forget.
On the location: Other reviews I've read are right that this isn't the best location in San Jose and the fancy restaurant seems a little out of place in the neighborhood but maybe the neighborhood will gentrify over the next few years. The parking lot is very easy to miss as the entrance is a small alleyway between two buildings one of which is Adega. The parking is also quite small. I think there were only 4 or 5 spots for customers and a little

The bread from a local bakery were served with marinated olives, homemade butter, and homemade hummus. I enjoyed the hummus most with its grainy texture and garlic flavor.

Sardine w/ green pepper, tomato, and cucumber sauces; it's a bit salty and the sauces helped; great buttery texture. Salted Codfish cake had a crispy exterior with tender and flaky interior. It was small enough to eat in one bite, which I don't recommend because it was salty when consumed whole. The capicola was less salty compared to the other two items. The fat was chewy, which I didn't prefer.

Thanks god they reopen for dine in. We booked 5 course meal. (Have to pay deposit) we upgraded to 7. See menu & pics. They also give small snacks & dessert as complimentary. So yeah 7 courses fill you up. Yummy.
Service is great. One comment is the chair is not comfortable for an upscale restaurant you spent 3 hrs ish for dinner.

Such a pleasant dining experience! My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary and had an amazing time. Yes, it's quite pricey but I'd say it's worth trying for a special occasion. The location is very unassuming, but once you step in, you'll feel like you've teleported to another world.

The interior is beautiful and quiet and I really enjoyed the ambience. The service was impeccable throughout. Annie and Diego were our servers and they were both so on top of it, friendly and helpful. Really elevated our experience :')

They started us off with three different

Love this place and the food. Excellent opportunity to taste some portuguese dishes.
During Covid19 i ordered a lot of take out, but the experience of dining in when it reopens, it's something you don't want to miss. My favorites are octopus and duck rice. Enjoy!

You wouldn’t realize it from the location but this is a fantastic restaurant. We tried the seven course chefs menu with lobster, corvina and squab. The presentation and service was excellent. The food tasted exquisite. The interior is unassuming and simple: focus on the food.

We had an exceptional experience! Tasty and creative entrees. Friendly and helpful service. Perfect ambiance.
I would describe it to my fellow Azoreans as elevated Portuguese cuisine. The perfect balance of… home and more... from the small details (the corn bread was just like my Tia's but the lupini spread was unlike any tremoço I've had!) to the entrees (a whole new take on Bife à Portuguesa). We couldn't eat another bite by the end of our meal. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner. Muito obrigada a vocês!

Love the appetizers, desserts, wine selections and five stars for the attentive service. A bit disappointed on the main courses - the roasted octopus tasted solid but not memorable, the braised pork featured more fat than flavor, and the duck breast was overwhelmed by the generous portion of rice. Overall a pleasant dining experience.
