If you enter the doors of Disocvery Time, the first thing you migh notice is our team motto: One Team, One Dream! This motto was created in 2014 when founder Stephanie Harris started our program, achieving a dream that she discovered as a high school student at local T.C. Williams.
While taking an early childhood elective class, she recognized her passion for children and at just 16 years old she set the goal of opening her own day care and preschool program in her hometown of Alexandria, VA.In 2014, that dream finally came true as she opened the doors to our first location. Her enthusiasm continues to inspire our staff at Discovery Time to carry out our mission to empower children to be their very best.

Discovery Time Learning Center provides much more than just child care and daycare services. When you join our program, you join a school community committed to supporting and empowering the children and families that we serve. Your child's safety is our #1 priority.
Our facility has the highest program safety precautions including on-site security cameras, telephones in every room, a secure entry system at our school's entrance, CPR & MAT certified staff, monthly practice of safety drills, and on-going program safety training for our team.Our parent-accessible classroom cameras help parents stay connected to their child during the day.

Discovery Time's Infant and Toddler program includes our infant suite, crawlers and mobile transition classroom and toddler classroom to meet the needs of children 6 weeks - 24 months old. Our two year old program includes a classroom for younger 2s and a separate transition, junior preschool classroom for older 2s and early 3s as they prepare to move into our preschool and PreK program.

Enrollment information is available here. We encourage you to come in, tour our center, and meet our teachers and directors once we open. Communication is key at Discovery Time. Our families are welcome to visit or call at anytime during the day.
Additionally, when you pick up your child, you will receive a Daily Discovery Report outlining how long your child napped, what portion of lunch your child ate and how well your child is doing with potty-training.Teachers will also describe activities and discoveries made throughout the day. At Discovery Time, we encourage your child's enthusiasm for learning and understand that children learn as they play.

We have just felt part of a larger community here and everyone has watched her thrive and grow. I love their approach to care and to teaching kids who may need a different approach to learning. Aside from being conveniently located, I always felt comfortable dropping my daughter off because I knew she was being cared for by the teachers and staff who seemed to have a genuine interest for children.
