We are closed for the summer as usual. We are carefully monitoring the guidelines of the Dept. of Social Services and will, as always, make Centennial a safe and happy place for young children! If you would like a personal tour of the school or have any questions, please call and leave a message for the Director (916-453-0976), or complete an online application.

We look forward to meeting you! We are a parent-participation school that emphasizes activities appropriate for preschool and Pre-K children. Parents of children enrolled in the morning preschool classes are required to participate on an assigned workday every other week. We offer two parent-participation preschool classes and one non-participation pre-kindergarten class.

About
Report
Centennial Christian Preschool is a non-profit program that has been operated by Centennial United Methodist Church for over 45 years. We are a parent-participation school that emphasizes activities appropriate for preschool and Pre-K children. We provide an opportunity for children to develop social skills, readiness skills, large and small motor coordination and a positive self-image.
Teachers
Report
Denise Tessman began her journey at Centennial Christian Preschool in 1993 as the M-W-F teacher. Having worked at an elementary school for 4 years prior to that, she had no idea how much joy these little ones would bring! In 1998 she became a teacher/director. In 2001 she realized the need to focus more of her energy on running the school and passed her teaching position on to another staff member, but you will seldom see her in her office.
Curriculum
Report
When children pretend, they're using their imaginations to move beyond the bounds of reality. A stick can be a magic wand. A sock can be a puppet. A small child can be a superhero. Our program at Centennial Christian Preschool is based upon the understanding that children are unique individuals and can only develop skills when they are ready to undertake them.
Preschool
Report
Our program at Centennial Christian Preschool is based upon the understanding that children are unique individuals and can only develop skills when they are ready to undertake them. Areas of development are physical, social, emotional, language and imaginative and creative development. Small muscle development is encouraged through activities such as cutting, gluing, painting, molding clay, stringing beads and working puzzles.
Pre-K
Report
Our Pre-K program is designed for the older pre-school child who is ready for the consistency of a 5-day a week school schedule. This afternoon program is non-participation, so children develop a strong sense of independence and confidence being away from the security of their home environment.

While the goal of the program is to help children build the skills they will need to be competent Kindergarteners, we base our curriculum on the development philosophy that the pre-school years are a precious, unique period in the life of a young child. We understand that children at this age learn best when they are allowed to actively explore their environment through play.
