Since 1992, American Martial Arts Academy has been a family-owned and operated institution dedicated to empowering children and adults through martial arts. Our character-driven instruction focuses on developing essential life skills such as discipline, respect, and confidence. With two convenient locations in Fullerton and Placentia/Yorba Linda, we offer flexible programs tailored to meet the needs of busy families. Little Ninjas Program
Our Little Ninjas Program prepares children aged 3-5 for academic success through martial arts fundamentals. This program develops focus, motor skills, and social readiness while making learning fun. Parents consistently report improved classroom preparedness in preschool and kindergarten settings.
Kids Martial Arts
Structured martial arts instruction for ages 6-12 builds essential life skills including discipline, respect, and self-confidence. Our curriculum combines physical development with character education to support success at home and school.
After School Program
Integrated after-school care offers homework help, transportation from local schools, and martial arts training. This comprehensive program provides structured enrichment activities while accommodating busy family schedules with flexible hours.
Summer Karate Camp

Shihan Brad Wenneberg
Founder
A retired police officer with over 30 years of martial arts experience, Shihan Brad established the academy in 1992 to share character-building benefits of martial arts with the community.
Bonnie Wenneberg
Co-Founder
Co-founder Bonnie brings extensive martial arts expertise and family-focused vision to the academy's operations, ensuring programs maintain their educational and developmental values.
Sensei Jason Wenneberg
Instructor
Son of the founders, Sensei Jason leads the Fullerton campus with 15+ years of teaching experience, continuing the family tradition of character-driven martial arts instruction.
Sensei Nikhil Joshi
Instructor
A former student who began training at age 6, Sensei Nikhil brings personal experience of the academy's transformative impact to his Placentia campus instruction.
Sensei Megan Joshi

My girls love this place! Both my girls are in the Black Belt Club and Love it. They enjoy every aspect of the program. They look forward to going to practice and seeing there friends. They practice at home together and look forward to competitions. After gaining full custody of my kids my first step was to get them into a great Karate school. I needed them in a positive, fun and caring environment that would help me mold my girls into being awesome individuals. They are doing a great job!

AMAA is the only option for top notch kids karate. Family owned and family oriented. Full time instructors that are great at what they do, and a very generous student to instructor ratio. My 7 year old daughter has been attending the after school program for several months and we've signed her up for the rest of the school year (THEY PICK HER UP FROM SCHOOL AND HELP HER WITH HER HOMEWORK!). We've also signed her up for the summer camp program, and we are even having her 8th birthday party there in a couple weeks. My daughter is doing very well there and is very excited to be attending. American Martial Arts Academy is the premier karate studio in Orange County, if not the world!! This studio is a family-oriented-owned-operated facility that has over & over established themselves as the best place to be families looking for fitness, fun, and after school programs. We have been students of AMAA-Fullerton for over 7 years, my three kids ages 14 (black belt), 10 (brown belt), and 6 (yellow belt) are all enrolled as well as my wife and myself. This place is fantastic, and very different from your average establishment... The staff all represent the same message of integrity, honesty

We started off with the Summer Karate Camp and it was a great fit for my active boys ages 5 and 7. They've learned so much from the excellent staff at AMA and have developed strength and balance over the past several months. We are now doing the after school program and it's great! Pick up, homework/play time, and karate class. It's a perfect day for them! Highly recommend this studio!
