
Since 1929, the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel has been proudly family owned & operated, providing the most trusted funeral services to the greater Akron community. Russ developed his exceptional work ethic at an early age by working with is father on their Wayne County farm. While working on the farm, Russ developed numerous hobbies stemming from the work he performed everyday after school.
His favorite hobby was the growing of shrubs and flowers. After graduating from Dalton high school, Russ entered Wooster College but during his time at college The United States was at war with Germany so Russ did the right thing by enlisting in the service despite only being seventeen years old. After serving his country proudly, Russ decided to enroll back in college at The Ohio State University where he studied embalming.

Veterans Overview

The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).
