The most effective way to treat trigger points is through deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy. By applying pressure to specific spots in a muscle, we can release the trigger point and relieve the associated pain and improve range of motion. A trigger point is a hyper irritable spot in a tight band of a skeletal muscle or in the muscle's fascia, that is painful on compression and that can give rise to characteristic referred pain.

Swedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage. If it's your first time at the spa or you don't get massage very often, Swedish massage is the perfect place to start. In all Swedish massage, the therapist lubricates the skin with massage oil or lotion and performs various strokes that warm up and work the muscle tissue, releasing tension and breaking up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, called adhesions.
