Master plumber, Paul Stein, created a plumbing company known as General Plumbing, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Twenty years of plumbing in the bitter cold forged a desire to move to a warmer place. Sunny Marco Island, Florida was the destination, and in 1985, he established Paul Stein Plumbing. Scott Stein, Paul's son, joined the family business in 1989, following in his father's footsteps.
Scott received his Master license in 1992 and became the new owner of Paul Stein Plumbing in 1993.
