Ours is a family owned and operated firm, independent of a large corporation. We have proudly served this community for many years and over that time we have earned your confidence and trust because you know we sincerely care about you and your loved ones. We are your neighbors, fellow church members, community group members, and civic group supporters.
Our goal is to continue our signature service to the families we serve. We offer the personal touch, respect, dignity and compassion so necessary during your most difficult times. We are honored for your allowing us to proudly serve this community. We are pleased to be. We understand that making the many decisions which come at a time of loss can be difficult.

From our beginnings in 1883, then known as "Heaton Mortuary", service and dedication to the families of Lincoln past and Lincoln present are the foundation from which we have grown.
Hodgman, who bought the mortuary from James Heaton, continued the vision of serving our community by merging with William Splain and Heath Griffiths who operated Splain-Schnell & Griffiths Mortuary to form Hodgman-Splain-Schnell & Griffiths Mortuary in 1942 operating from 1335 L street. In 1944 Heath Griffiths left the firm and the name was changed to Hodgman-Splain Mortuary which continued to meet the needs of a growing Lincoln community.

Life Choices
Report
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Why Plan Ahead
Report
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
