Appelhanz Roofing began as Appelhanz Construction in 1979 when Vietnam War Veteran, Ted Appelhanz, decided to "do anything in construction that anyone would pay him for" after he exited the Navy with honors, and the construction company he was working for went out of business. That survivor attitude, partnered with Ted's hard work, honesty and integrity made Appelhanz Construction a respected business in Topeka, Kansas.
Although he appreciated every job he worked on, Ted particularly enjoyed roofing, and within a couple of years he was able to turn Appelhanz Construction into what it is today - Appelhanz Roofing. From the age of 12, Ted's son, Matt, learned the ins and outs of the industry as he poured his "sweat equity" into Appelhanz Roofing every summer for 9 years.
