Richard Sun is a distinguished and highly respected dentist, that has been serving the dental needs of the DC metro area for over 20 years now. He received his BS in Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and continued his studies toward a dental doctorate from the University of Illinois at Chicago Dental School.

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed in the bone and holds an fake tooth to replace a missing tooth. Implants are an alternative to dentures and dental bridges. Implants replace both the teeth and their missing roots whereas a denture only replaces the tooth. An implant looks like a screw and is made of titanium which is biocompatible and not rejected by the body.

There are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
